Where does Secretary Day come from?

Secretary Day originated in the United States, where there is a long tradition of honouring administrative employees. It was first celebrated in the Netherlands in 1989 when Secretaresse Magazine (now Management Support Magazine) introduced it to the country in collaboration with the flower industry. Back then, it was still called Secretaries' Day, which clearly shows that it originated in America. However, it has now become firmly embedded in our corporate culture, and we simply call it Secretary's Day!

When is Secretary Day in 2024?

Secretary Day is celebrated every year on the third Thursday in April. This year, it falls on Thursday 18 April. On this special day, employers and managers celebrate their secretaries and assistants.
